Three Gryphon House Authors Selected as Trusted Development Experts to Provide Parenting Advice

Barnes & Noble, Inc. the world’s largest bookseller, Monday, October 11, 2010 announced the launch of the B&N Kids’ Expert Circle on Barnes & Noble.com (www.bn.com/expertcircle).  In keeping with the goal of serving as a trusted resource for parents and educators, Barnes & Noble is partnering with experts in the fields of literacy, arts and education, child development and pediatric medicine, who will share advice and parenting tips and offer book and toy suggestions on B&N Kids. Gryphon House authors MaryAnn F. Kohl, Jackie Silberg, and Becky A. Bailey, Ph.D., have been selected as three of the 13 experts for the new Kids’ Expert Circle.

MaryAnn F. Kohl, art book author and publisher, has been selected as one of the 13 experts for the new Kids’ Expert Circle.   “I am delighted to be part of this exciting program at B&N.com where I can reach parents and educators and encourage them to bring creativity into the lives of the children they teach and love,” said Kohl.   “Each month will bring new advice and activity suggestions that will expand kids’ artistic possibilities.”

Kohl founded Bright Ring Publishing, Inc. in 1985, and celebrates her 25th year in business this year. She formerly taught at Mt. View Elementary School in Ferndale, Washington, and has consulted for Fisher-Price, the Jim Henson Company, Blues Clues, and Little Einsteins, as well as writing for national magazines and giving workshops around the country. Kohl’s newest book is “Art with Anything: 52 Weeks of Fun with Everyday Stuff.”

“I am honored to be one of the experts,” says Jackie Silberg, an early childhood advocate and popular keynote speaker with expertise is in brain and literacy development for young children and developmental games using music, also named to the circle of experts.  “The experts’ articles provide informative content and useful product suggestions to help parents, educators, and caregivers find the right books or toy for any child.”

Silberg’s books have been published by Gryphon House Books in 34 different countries, and both her books and music have won many awards including: Parent’s Choice, Mom’s Choice Award, NAPPA Gold, Parent’s Council, Early Childhood News Director’s Choice, iParenting, and more.  She is also the owner of Miss. Jackie Music Company in Leawood, Kansas.

Becky A. Bailey, Ph.D., another award-winning Gryphon House author, renowned teacher, and internationally recognized expert in childhood education and developmental psychology was also named to the circle. Dr. Bailey is the founder of Loving Guidance, Inc., a company dedicated to creating positive environments for children, families, schools, and businesses. She is also the originator of Conscious Discipline®.  Her workshops touch thousands of lives each year, and her top-selling books have over 100,000 copies in circulation.
